The Tender Touch

Isaiah 42:3 and Matthew 12:20 A bruised reed he will not break and smoking flax he will not quench until judgment is brought forth unto truth.

When I look around the landscape of Christiandom today, I am amazed and appalled at how many of God’s chosen people are hurting, struggling and hunting for answers that seem to not be found. It is apparent that there are many bruised and battered people in this world, some of them are bruised due to sin either their own or that of Continue reading The Tender Touch

The Benefits of the Blood: Part III

In our preceding entries on the benefits of the blood, much of what we have dealt with has to do with our salvation. Most of these final benefits are concerned with the life we live after salvation. A scholar friend of mine says that most everyone agrees that it takes the blood to become a Christian, or a follower of Jesus Christ, but then the arguments start over what does a Christian look and live like? Continue reading The Benefits of the Blood: Part III

The Benefits of the Blood: Part II

Over the last few weeks as I have been contemplating and praying about this article I could not help but recognize that not only is the blood missing from much of our preaching, but also from our worship. Most of you, like myself grew up singing about the blood, we sang Power in the Blood, Nothing but the Blood, Oh the Blood, and There is a Fountain filled with Blood. God always seem to bless and anoint when we sang about the blood. Today in most churches, it is not only missing in our preaching, but when we do sing and occasional hymn it is done in a perfunctory manner to appease the older people who pay the bills. The great part about it is that God still anoints and blesses, the sad part is that the leadership doesn’t seem to care, it might interfere with their program. As we stated earlier the blood of Jesus Christ is Continue reading The Benefits of the Blood: Part II

The Benefits of the Blood: Part I

Over the next few months, I will be teaching on the four cardinal doctrines of the church. They are as follows, Jesus the Savior, Jesus the healer, Jesus the Holy Ghost baptizer and Jesus our soon coming King. I will do my best to keep it free of personal opinion and germane to the subject.

It breaks my heart that the very foundational doctrines of the church are being omitted in most pulpits. I don’t know which is sadder the fact that they are not being preached or that most of you have not noticed they are not being preached. Please wake up and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

The blood of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the salvation of mankind. Matthew 26:28 Jesus said, for this is Continue reading The Benefits of the Blood: Part I

Quitting God

TRUE STORY—told to me by my Grandmother Mrs. Alma Pilgrim when I was a little boy.

A certain man, who had been a Christian for 40 years was now going through a very hard trial of his faith. Things got so bad for him that he just could not take any more, so he decided to QUIT ON GOD.

He took his Bible and Song Book, in hand, and went down to his home Church. All alone, in the church, he walked to the front and placed his Bible and Song Book on the altar. (He was turning them back in to God.)

Standing there at the altar he began to pour his heart out… “Lord, I’ve come to tell you that I quit. Continue reading Quitting God

The Valley of Tears #1

Blessed is the man that walks through the Valley of Baca.

Psalms 84 :6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well, the rain also filleth the pools.

Psalms 84:7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

This message is for the mature, or for those who are striving to become a mature Christian.

Despite all of the lighthearted, superficial teaching of today, we who have gone on to know the Lord and continue to make progress are facing unprecedented difficulties and questions. Many people who are true Saints are struggling Continue reading The Valley of Tears #1

Stolen Treasures from an Unguarded Temple Part VII

What gives you the right to say these things? First, my wife and I both come from a one-hundred-year heritage in Pentecostalism. Our families have seen every trick, gimmick and reality, we have truly seen the pendulum hit both walls. Our grandmothers were women who knew what it meant to take hold of the horns of the altar and pray until the answer came. Whether it be for lost husbands, children, miracles or praying people through to the Holy Ghost. I have thirty years of ministry with integrity and moral purity by the grace of God. For twenty-six years, my wife and I have enjoyed a wonderful God ordained marriage, we have been blessed to see real salvations, true baptisms Continue reading Stolen Treasures #7

Stolen Treasures from an Unguarded Temple Part VI: Spiritual Loss

We will now begin to deal with the matter of spiritual loss. At a time in our culture when the hunger for supernatural things is so clear, for example, zombies, vampires, the living dead.

The church however, has relegated the supernatural to a back room in an effort not to offend the seeker friendly crowd, what utter nonsense. One of the most frequently asked questions, among new people of all ages, especially young people, is when are we going to see something we can’t explain? When are we going to see manifestations of the Holy Spirit? Our low expectations are rooted in our shallow faith and our mundane weekly routine of the same old, same old. Nothing mind-blowing or supernatural ever seems to happen, Luke 5:17 tells us that the power of God was present to heal, Continue reading Stolen Treasures #6

The Spiritual Condition of the People

Matthew 22:29 “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God”. John 8:31-32 “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”.

Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children”.

Hosea 4:9 “And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings”.

Isaiah 30:10-11 “ Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us the right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: “ Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us”.

Stolen Treasures # 4

Having dealt with the issue of stolen content we must now move on to the weightier and more personal matter of our ministerial responsibility. Before we begin, I must admonish you to remove the self and the carnal excuses about ourselves and our ministry. Remember, open rebuke is better than secret love and the father always corrects those whom he loves. It is neither my desire nor the heart of God to either browbeat or sugarcoat the situation. Most of you did not start out spiritually where you are now. The declension has been subtle so as to deceive you into thinking this is just the way things are now. Pain, disappointment, sheep bite, discouragement, a seeming lack of success, watching others promoted by nepotism, politics and false though popular teachings has diminished us spiritually.
