Q: What is a Christian in the modern world in which we live?

To call one a Christian too many people simply means I am not Muslim or Jewish or any pantheon of other religions. However, in the early church they did not refer to themselves as Christians, but they were given that name by others first, at Antioch. I wonder if the American church of today is living a life that would cause others to identify them with acting like Jesus. My question has always been, is there enough evidence in your daily life to gain a conviction in a court of law for you behaving like Jesus, if not we have a severe problem.
Jesus Christ demands more allegiance than any dictator who ever walked the face of the earth, yet loves more than our human mind can comprehend. How could we withhold anything in our lives from one who exemplified love in such a manner? I could offer you a long theological dissertation on what it takes to become a Christian, but quite simply Jesus himself said, “You must be born again.”

The Apostle Paul wrote in II Corinthians 5:17 “therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature and old things are passed away and behold all things have become new.” Has this been your experience? Are you dead to sin and alive to righteousness as is written in Romans 6 and 11? Are you walking in the Spirit and not fulfilling the lust of the flesh? To call Jesus Lord, which means quite simply Master, if He is not the supreme ruler over our lives by love something is amiss.
